For Ashley, becoming a flight attendant was a dream come true, finishing her degree was the next one

Between unpredictable schedules and life at cruising altitude, going back to school seemed nearly impossible. But the flexibility of JetBlue Scholars, and a coach who never stopped cheering her on, helped Ashley not only earn her degree but also rediscover her confidence and set her sights even higher. Next stop: law school. 

 
What motivated you to join the JetBlue Scholars program, and how has it impacted your career? 

After achieving my dream job as a flight attendant, I still had a goal of finishing my college degree. The challenge was figuring out how to accomplish that with the demanding and unpredictable schedule of a new flight attendant. The JetBlue Scholars program provided the perfect solution. Its flexibility allowed me to take one class at a time and give my full attention to each course, while still balancing a full-time flying schedule and everyday responsibilities. 

When the pandemic hit, I was able to accelerate my progress by enrolling in multiple classes, taking advantage of the extra time I had on the ground. Completing the program not only gave me the pride of accomplishing something I’ve always wanted but also boosted my confidence to take the next step toward my dream of attending law school. It has shown me that even with a busy career, I can achieve my academic and professional goals with determination and the right support system. 

How did the JetBlue Scholars coach contribute to your success? 

My success coach was a constant source of encouragement and motivation throughout my journey. She was my cheerleader, always checking in to keep me on track and reminding me that I could do this even during the toughest times like when I suffered the devastating loss of my grandparents within a span of 10 months. Hannah’s support made a huge difference. Her words of encouragement and understanding helped me keep pushing forward and complete my degree. Having someone believe in me and guide me through the process gave me the accountability and confidence I needed to succeed. 

How has the JetBlue Scholars program aligned with your long-term career aspirations? 

Completing my degree through the JetBlue Scholars program has been a transformative milestone in my journey. It not only fulfilled a personal goal but also laid the foundation for my next big step, pursuing a career in law. The confidence I gained through this program has inspired me to prepare for the LSAT and work toward becoming an advocate for others, a passion that has driven me for years. The program showed me that even with a demanding career as a flight attendant, I could balance work, school, and life, which will serve me well as I take on the challenges of law school.
